กำลัง

aa. 1. indicates action going on or state prevailing at a given time;

at a period for, at the height of, very suitable for, just right for; n. 2. energy, strength, power, vigour, capacity; 3. extremely, utterly.

If placed as a prefix to a verb it signifies continuous action in the present tense, ex. กำลังไป. กำลังวังชา, กำลังกาย- physically strength;

กำลังกิน- eating; กำลังเกิด- nascent, beginning to exist or develop; กำลังดี- suitable in every respect; กำลังส่องสว่าง- illuminating power.

คุณกำลังทำอะไร What are you doing? ผมหมดกำลังวังชา I am devoid of strength.

กำลังกายย่อมเสื่อมลงด้วยอายุ Physical strength deteriorates with age. ผมกำลังจะไปอยู่แล้ว I am about to go. เรือกำลังแล่นไปยังเมืองท่า The ship is poceeding to port. ดิฉันปวดศีรษะเป็นกำลัง I have a splitting headache. เรามุ่งหมายที่จะใช้กำลังปรมาณูเพื่ออุตสาหกรรม We intend to use atomic energy for our industries. ผมไม่มีกำลังพอจะสร้างเมืองขึ้นบนเกาะนี้ได้ I have not adequate resources to start a town on this island. ผมรู้ตัวว่า ผมมีกำลังความสามารถที่จะทำอะไรได้อีกหลายอย่าง I know that I have the capacity to do more. เด็กถึงอายุกำลังกินกำลังนอน The children have arrived at an age when they sleep a lot and eat a lot. ฉันเบื่อหน่ายเขาเป็นกำลัง I am utterly tired of him. เนื้อสุกกำลังพอดี The meat is done to a turn.
